Announcement of an upcoming publication on "Geological Resources and Good Governance in sub-Saharan Africa: holistic approaches to management and sustainable development" edited by J. Runge (CEMAC/GTZ Bangui) & J. Shikwati (IREN Nairobi)

This publication by Taylor & Francis Publishers (UK) intends to give an update of the distribution, occurrences, potential and prospects of geological resources for sustainable development in Africa. The publication will comprise the following chapters:

1) Introduction
2) An overview of geological resources in Africa: potential and opportunities
3) Regional organizations approach to mining and exploitation
4) National and domestic communities in the mining sector
5) Multinational companies in the mining sector
6) Good governance, transparency and regulation in the extractive sector
7) Exploitation of geological resources and its impact on the environment
8) The impact of developed economies on the extractive Industry in sub-Saharan Africa: past – present – future
9) Conclusions

Publication

It is intended to publish a scientific book on these topics at Taylor & Francis Publishers, UK. The main objective of this book is to give an update and overview of the recent situation and to highlight the challenges of the extractive sector in sub-Saharan Africa by different national/regional case studies.
